The Current Affairs Society and the Think Tank “Trinità dei Monti”, in collaboration with the Wake Up Foundation, are glad to organize the event “Europe at Sea”.

The world has not been so volatile since the end of WW2. Migration, conflicts, terrorism, cyber warfare, Brexit, the election of Trump and a shift towards nationalism are all contributing to the crumbling of the West’s world order. Through exclusive access to chief EU diplomat Federica Mogherini, award-winning film-maker Annalisa Piras delivers a unique insight to the view from the top of the European Union, revealing how Europe is shaping up to face the challenges threatening its citizens’ security. Two years later, this beautifully cinematic film uncovers some inconvenient truths, dragging its viewers out of their comfort zones.

Annalisa Piras and Dr. Paolo Dardanelli will take part in the debate. Annalisa Piras is an Italian film director, producer and journalist. She is the director of Springshot Productions and the co-founder of The Wake Up Foundation. One of her films, “The Great European Disaster Movie”, won the prestigious German CIVIS media prize in the information category. She also directed the documentary film “Girlfriend in a Coma”, which analyses the political and economic situation of Italy, in collaboration with the former editor of “The Economist”, Bill Emmott.

Dr. Paolo Dardanelli, reader at the University of Kent, has been a research fellow at Harvard University, the University of Berne, Switzerland and other universities around Spain. He also collaborates with the Cabinet of the United Kingdom, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the House of Lords, the House of Commons and the Embassy of Switzerland in the United Kingdom.

The debate moderator will be Emanuele Errichiello, Responsible for European Affairs of the Think Tank “Trinità dei Monti” and President of Current Affairs Society.
