According to a report by the <a href=\"https:\/\/eige.europa.eu\/gender-mainstreaming\/policy-areas\/economic-and-financial-affairs\/economic-benefits-gender-equality\">European Institute for Gender Equality<\/a> parity between men and women is a fundamental factor allowing economies and societies to thrive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">L'Europa guida gi\u00e0 il mondo su questa misura chiave del progresso sociale. Nell'indice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2017\/11\/these-are-the-world-s-most-gender-equal-countries\/\" target=\"_self\">Global Gender Gap<\/a> del World Economic Forum, che classifica 144 paesi sulla base della loro vicinanza al raggiungimento dell'uguaglianza di genere, sei tra i primi 10 paesi si trovano in Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Il perseguimento dell'uguaglianza di genere ha fatto parte del progetto europeo dal trattato di Roma del 1957, che stabiliva il principio fondamentale della parit\u00e0 di retribuzione per lo stesso lavoro.<\/p>\n<p>However, progress has been slow and is now in reverse gear. \u00a0Globally, the gap has widened this year for the first time since the World Economic Forum annual report began in 2006. In Spain far-right party Vox are currently campaigning against \u201cFeminazis\u201d and want to roll-back equalities legislation. Against this febrile backdrop, the role of women in society, and their ability to be full participants in European democracy itself, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the EU. Not least because it is estimated that achieving gender equality by 2050 \u00a0would lead to an increase in the EU\u2019s GDP per capita by 6.1 to 9.6%, or from \u20ac1.95 to \u20ac3.15 trillion. But achieving full equality is, as the European Women\u2019s Lobby manifesto for the 2019 election frames it, about putting in place a new kind of leadership, and a new kind of politics, for the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>The Wake Up Europe Festival shines a light on this vital debate by including two powerful films in its \u201cselection for reflection\u201d: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweproject.eu\/it\/wue_films\/female-pleasure\/\"><em>Female Pleasure<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweproject.eu\/it\/wue_films\/the-reformist\/\"><em>The Reformist \u2013 A Female Imam<\/em><\/a>. They tackle the deep roots of the patriarchal system which holds back women with invisible and visible cultural and religious structures. <em>Female Pleasure<\/em> takes fiercely on taboos about equality in sexuality around the world. <em>The Reformist<\/em> boldly address the struggle to recognise equality when it comes to spiritual leadership. A struggle that has also profound consequences on Europe\u2019s ability to improve harmony between different religions and cultures and achieve its fundamental goal of \u201cunity in diversity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>C'\u00e8 ancora molta strada da fare.<\/p>\n<p>Quest'anno, il Forum economico mondiale ha stimato che occorreranno 100 anni per colmare il divario di genere complessivo, rispetto agli 83 anni dello scorso anno.
